Bringing movement, from within
Centred Movement
Beginners Pilates or, the What, Where and How.
This course introduces the what, where and how to move your body.
The
focus
is
on
learning
the
foundational
movements
(
the
what
and
where)
that
underlie
all
the
exercises
of
Pilates
and
natural
movement.
They
are
simple
to
do
but
the
understanding
and
benefits
of
these
fundamentals
will
develop
as
you learn to connect more deeply to your body.
The how are the principles of Pilates - control, concentration, centre, breath, precision and flow.
Control and concentration
work together. The more we focus, the more we can feel how our body is responding.
As we feel the response from our body we can then aim to control the movement and bring greater fluidity and rhythm.
Centre
is
our
powerhouse.
It
is
more
than
just
your
six
pack;
it
is
about
strengthening
the
deeper
postural
muscles
of
your core.
Breathing
is
life.
In
Pilates
we
bring
the
focus
into
our
chests
so
we
can
engage
our
core
muscles
at
the
same
time.
This
for me was one of the hardiest fundamentals to learn but I got there in the end
Precision;
it’s
all
in
the
details!
Or
to
be
correct
in
the
technique.
By
putting
all
the
above
five
principles
together
and
practising
you
will
gradually
rebalance
and
realign
your
body’s
natural
posture
allowing
you
to
move
with
the
sixth
principle
Flow.
See the video below that shows these basic principles in practice.
